Thinking about World Mental Health Day this week, check out my latest blog post on exercise for positive mental health⬇️

Keeping on top of anxieties, worries and fostering good mental health is so important. For many of us, this can be very difficult and whilst it’s not a cure all, exercise is a real leveller and can really help – not just physically but mentally and emotionally too. Here’s how:

#1 It makes you feel SO much better by releasing endorphins (happy hormones) which lift your mood, give you energy and make you feel happy and more able to cope.

#2 It reduces Stress

I’ve said before – exercise positively reduces stress, improves the quality of your life and your mental health. This in turn can improve your relationships, how you process information, and your ability to deal with challenges.

#3 It improves mental clarity.

Those endorphins released through exercise improve your concentration and help encourage new brain cell growth. Having clearer thoughts and memories is both great for your mental health, and for dealing with brain fog in menopause.

#4 It improves sleep.

Exercise helps regulate your circadian rhythm. This determines when you feel sleepy and awake. In a sleep deprived nation, anything you can do to get a good night’s rest will ?help your mental, emotional and physical health.

#5 Improves interpersonal relationships – Exercise can really help you connect with others (if of course you want to!) Group fitness is especially good for this, I have seen this first hand, especially in the community class I teach.

#6 Exercising outside is phenomenally good for you.

Fresh air.. being at one with nature..walking.. hiking ?.. wild swimming.. whatever.. the positive effect on your mental health is enormous. This is the best leveller there is for me.

Bottom line? keeping yourself fit and healthy will ? help ..

What’s your thoughts?
